Mrs. Miller @ Marine Corps Marathon

Mrs. Miller made it back from Washington DC today! It was a great weekend and race! I haven’t done a full marathon in 7 years and running a marathon over 40 was so much harder than in my 30’s and slowed me down! Luckily the reward was just as sweet! Thank you all for supporting this race and enjoying the loveliness of Mrs. Taber! She’s an amazing teacher! Here’s a few pics of this memorable race and all the patriotism that went along with this race!

Cleared?

Our most recent cleared list is posted here! Please ensure you are on it, if you plan to attend any event in our classroom or on campus. Grandparents Day is the one exception of the year, where grandparents are welcome to come on campus to participate in activities.

Please stop by the whiteboard this week by our backpack hooks and highlight your name if it is on the list. This will help us in checking who is available for events. Thank You!

Cleared volunteers as of 10-26-18

Character Education  – Generosity

Last week we had 2 wonderful lessons to teach us about generosity!

  • Our 5th grade students came in to teach us about Generosity. One of these young ladies is Mrs. Leatherwood’s daughter. They did an outstanding job teaching the students through the story of Rainbow Fish and having the students determine through different examples, to show thumbs up/down to tell if they thought the example showed generosity or not. In the end, ever student was able to decorate their own Rainbow Fish and we were given a bag of scales to put on when the students modeled generosity to each other.
  • Mrs. Deb Marich also came in last week to teach us about Generosity. After some explaining and reading to them about ways to show generosity at school, home, their community or beyond, she let each child draw a way they could show generosity. After they drew their picture they had to place their picture in the area to show where they showed generosity (home, school, community, or beyond). Thank you Deb!

Halloween Celebration in 206

Our amazing Room Parent, Mrs. Dani Powell, has rallied some help and these kids have a fun time planned for this special day! Remember you must be cleared to participate in our classroom events. Dismissal will still be at 12:30 at the gates as usual. Here is a message from Dani:

Our classroom Halloween party will be on Wednesday, October 31 from 11:15am-12:30pm. If you are cleared and would like to join us, please email Dani at Dani.powell@gmail.com. We have fun games and crafts planned for the kiddos, and would love any extra help! Just a reminder that no costumes are allowed in school that day.

PS…One more reminder about Halloween is that we are not allowed to bring or pass out any candy on campus due to district nutrition guidelines and allergy precautions. Thank you for remembering and respecting this rule to keep everyone safe!! We also ask that siblings stay at home that day to not distract from the TK’s celebration (Thank you!).

Will you post?

If you are a member of our private Facebook page, please remember to post and share any pictures you might catch! We love seeing them and it makes our page more active and fun! Thanks for participating! Feel free to share a Halloween picture of your cutie pie if you celebrate halloween. Thank you!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences are coming soon! I believe everyone has signed up and we are ready to go. A couple reminders to make your parent conference go smoothly and give you an idea of what to expect.

  • Be aware we only have 30 minutes to meet. I will do the best I can to go through all of your child’s progress and leave 1-2 minutes for questions. If there is something specific you want to make sure there is time for, please let me know when you first come in so I can plan/adjust accordingly.
  • When you arrive, PLEASE make sure you come in and let us know you are here. This is very important as we may not realize you are outside and your conference could begin late when realize you are there.
  • There is no child-care in class or at school as this is a meeting for Parents and Teachers to discuss progress.
  • We will go over your child’s report card and some of the pieces of work to explain their progress. We will spend a little time discussing their citizenship behaviors.
  • If an emergency comes up and you are unable to make it to your conference, please email ASAP and call the office to have them send me a message. Thank you!
  • Don’t worry! Bring a smile! I know some parents can get worried about conferences or feedback! Remember we are at Period 1 for the year. Some students grow and take off at different rates. Each one of these special kiddos are near and dear to my heart! I LOVE watching them all grow at their own pace and am grateful for the unique personalities they bring to make up this awesome class! Enjoy the time as we discuss these past 2.5  months of the year.

Grandparents Day!
